La Tamarissière

La Tamarissière

La Tamarissière is a small seaside neighbourhood in Agde, situated on the right bank of the Hérault river estuary. It is a peaceful, unspoilt spot, known for its tranquil atmosphere nestled between the sea, the river and the pine forest.

Its name comes from the tamarisk trees planted at the end of the 18th century, intended to stabilise the dunes and limit the silting up of the river mouth. Even today, the site is surrounded by a vast, century-old pine forest, which provides a wonderful space for walking and relaxation.

La Tamarissière stands out for its wild and peaceful atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of Cap d’Agde. It features a large beach bordered by dunes, nature trails, and a rich historical heritage, notably Second World War blockhouses still visible along the coastline.

It is a popular spot for:

  • walks through the pine forest
  • swimming in a natural setting
  • peace and unspoilt nature
  • hikes between the beach, dunes and the mouth of the Hérault

Between sea and nature, La Tamarissière offers an authentic experience of the Agde coastline, ideal for visitors seeking tranquillity.
